The autumn season is upon us and there is no better way to see this than stepping outside and seeing the natural wonders that surround us in the countryside. The crisp golden leaves, the fruit trees bursting with the fruits of nature, and the ever changing hedgerows. Everything preparing to settle for the long winter ahead.
We all live in a fast paced world where we want everything and we want it now, this is reflected within the floristry trade as the majority of flowers are available all year round. But there are exceptions and at 'The Flower Box' there is a large selection of plants and flowers many of which are only available at this time of year, such as locally grown English chrysanthemums and dahlias. All offering inspiration for floral arrangements and designs to suit all budgets, making the perfect gifts. After all, what is more certain to bring a smile to our faces than giving or receiving flowers?
Everyone loves flowers!

Caring for your Hand-Tied Aqua Pack - Your bouquet can be left in its aqua pack for up to 48hrs. After this time the water will need to be changed so snip the base of the water bag over the sink to release the water. Remove the lower packaging, the upper gift wrap can be left on if desired or removed with care but do not untie your flowers. Fill a vase of deep cold water, cut approx 5cm from the end of the stems, for best results cut stems at an angle. Stand the Hand-tied design in the vase.
REMEMBER – Keep flowers in a cool draught free area, out of direct sunlight. The cooler the room the longer your flowers will last. Remove any faded blooms or foliage as soon as possible. Change the water in the vase at least twice a week.
Caring for your Cut Flowers - On receipt of your flowers, unwrap with care. Fill a vase of deep cold water. Cut the base of the stem; remove any foliage that will be below the water level. Arrange flowers and place vase away from direct sunlight, radiators and draughts. The cooler the room, the longer the flowers will last. Change the water at least twice a week; remove any faded blooms to encourage buds to open.
Caring for your Flower Arrangement - On receipt of your flower arrangement top up the container with water. Keep topped up as the flowers keep drinking the water. Keep the arrangement away from draughts, sunlight and radiators. The cooler the room, the longer the flowers will last. Remove blooms as they fade.
Caring for your Plants - Do not stand plants on polished surfaces or televisions. Most plants can be mist sprayed lightly but not hairy leaved plants. Avoid draughts and direct heat.
Caring for your Planted Bowl - Keep in a fairly warm room with good light, keep soil moist but don’t over water. Ensure all plants receive water. Feed once every two weeks in Spring/Summer.
